About the Speaker: Selenay Aydın is a Dissertator in the History Department at UW-Madison, specializing in late medieval and early modern European-Ottoman relations. Her research focuses on the complex dynamics of identity formation and the concept of the ‘Other,’ examining how these themes were influenced by encounters between Ottoman Turks and Italian communities during this pivotal period in history.
