Hebrew is a modern and ancient language with a strong literary tradition. Learning Hebrew enables people to connect with Israeli people and culture, but also Jewish culture.
“Hebrew is one of the two official languages of the State of Israel. It is the primary language of over five million people and it is spoken by over nine million people worldwide. Prior to its revitalization, Hebrew served as a connector of communities around the world and thus powerfully exemplifies the capacity of language to unite people across time and space.”
Furthermore, the United States has a close relationship with Israel, so Hebrew is also important to know if a U.S. citizen desires a government position with a focus on U.S.-Israeli relations.
Hebrew can also be used to study religious texts, such as the Bible and the Torah, and ancient history.
